And we’re back! Took me a few days longer to get into the New Year because of the travel and unpacking after being away for three weeks. I spent the entire day yesterday taking down Christmas and getting organized. It was like an itch I wanted to scratch for the last two weeks, and it felt so good to do it.
Basically, I was sick of things laying around. I kept chanting to myself while I was working: “A place for everything, and everything in its place.” Obsessive? Sure. Yes. But I was ready to commit to it.
The first thing I tackled was our entertainment center. Our TV stand is from IKEA and is super reasonably priced. Previously, each shelf just had stuff on it. There were video game headsets and batteries and video games… the list goes on. But it was so piecemeal and strewn about. Enter basket one.
The next thing I tackled was the linen closet. Most of you know that Mike and I live in a one bedroom apartment, and space is limited. It’s easy for things to start looking congested. I used two more baskets to create a specific place for towels and sheets. I liked alternating the metal baskets and the wicker baskets for a varied and clean look. In one basket I put toilet paper, in another, hand towels, and in another, laundry products. Again, my laundry products were previously thrown in the closet in the middle of my towels and sheets. A place for everything, and everything in its place.
Then I tackled our bathroom drawer. Some people have a junk drawer. We have a bathroom drawer. I’m honestly not even sure how we collect so many bathroom odds and ends, but the drawer was becoming chaotic. I started by taking everything out of its packaging to save space – razors, chapsticks, dental floss. That alone allowed me to see what was going on. Then, I bought a drawer organizer from Target for only $7 – linking a similar one thats $6, as mine wasn’t online. I was amazed at how I was able to “shrink” the amount of clutter in the drawer.
The last thing I tackled was under the kitchen sink. Again, products everywhere. I condensed and fit everything in one metal basket.
Overall, I’m extremely happy with it. I just feel like everything is more put together now! Hopefully someone finds this helpful.
In other news, I started BBG week one today! I’ll keep you posted on my progress and follow along on my Instagram!
