Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! So crazy how time flies. I remember my first Valentine’s Day with Mike. Groupon was the hot new thing (new – that suggests how long we’ve been together!) and we bought one to The Melting Pot.
We had a delicious Valentine’s Day dinner, after which, Mike told me he never wanted to pay to cook his own food again 🙂 🙂 🙂 And afterwards, he proceeded to give me a box full of Valentine’s Day themed knick-knacks, including a small stuffed animal that was more than likely from a local convenience store. I loved it then and I love it now – I still have it. I had to hide it from Millie, though, or it would have been a quick and brutal burial for Mr. Bear.
I know some people see Valentine’s Day as a horribly commercial holiday, and sure – the candy industry is having a BALL with our affinity for all things pink and heart-shaped. But I think that we should embrace any day that celebrates love – and any small reason to celebrate, when we’re able. I posted a piece on grief this holiday season – you can read it here. If you’re going through “stuff,” this Valentine’s Day, you aren’t alone and your grief is not unseen. I’m truly wishing you brighter days ahead and the patience to see through the darkness.
If you are able to celebrate, though, I encourage you to do so. Jadedness is the easy route – finding joy isn’t always as simple as it might seem. But I encourage you to count your blessings, scoop up the person or people you love – be it your husband, your kids, your boyfriend, and yes – even your galantine, and celebrate. Because love deserves to be acknowledged and small CVS bear can bring a lot of joy. So grab one of the dresses below and get to festivating!
