So excited to share my spring home refresh with you guys!!
But phew – this has been a crazy couple of weeks, hence my unreliable posting. We’ve been hosting family from out of town. It’s so crazy to be at a point in my life where I have the capabilities to host – a guest bedroom, a dining table that doesn’t force you to knock knees, evening dining service for twelve. It shouldn’t feel surreal, but sometimes I do feel like I’m playing house.
I’m finding more and more that I enjoy spending my money on my living space more than on myself. Mike and I are RELENTLESS homebodies, so I’m a firm believer that our home should be comfortable, since that’s where you can find our bodies most of the time! I’m so excited to partner with Fête Home today to share a few simple and easy ways I’ve refreshed our home for spring!
It’s taken me a while to figure out my style, even before this home refresh. Admittedly, it’s still a work in progress, but I’m a neutral gal all the way. I started off decorating with only black, white and grey, and I found that the result was too harsh for my liking. Don’t get me wrong – black, white and grey is still super chic and timeless in my opinion, but I wanted something that evoked a little bit more comfort – enter brown and green.
1. Toss in a throw!
I’ve also been playing with texture. Here, I’ve mixed and matched the woven baskets with the leather pouf. One of my favorite new additions to the room is this Riverine Black Throw blanket from Fête Home. I absolutely love the minimalist stripes – they’re the perfect compliment to the warmer tones and keep everything balanced. Not to mention, a throw is such an easy way to add a pop of character to a room.
Millie approves of the home refresh.
2. Switch up your artwork!
It’s amazing what some new wall art can do for a room. Art can get pretty expensive – one of my favorite hacks is to buy printable art on Etsy and take it to Kinkos to be printed on high quality paper. It’s a great workaround if you haven’t fully cultivated a palette for fine art – or if fine art just isn’t in the spring budget! Not to mention, a cost-effective route allows you to change your art with the seasons.
3. Dress Up the Coffee Table!
I’ve been fascinated with the art of coffee table design lately. Mike doesn’t understand why I’m making the books so inaccessible by sticking a cloche on top :)!! But I keep insisting IT’S INTERIOR DESIGN! Height, texture and layers – I’ve been trying to keep those things in mind for my home refresh. This glass cloche is on major sale right now, and since coffee table books can be truly $$$, I highly suggest looking at thrift stores and on eBay! You’ll be surprised what you find. If all else fails, grab a new spring candle scent!
4. Greens, Greens, and Nothing but Greens!
ten points to the first person to understand that reference! Faux greenery is my jam right now. A plant can do so much to add warmth to a room – vary their sizes, as well. Stick them on shelves, coffee tables, side tables and anywhere you feel is lacking a bit of life.
5. Swap Out Throw Pillows
by far the easiest spring adjustment you can make is swapping out your throw pillow covers! I’ve recently discovered that I prefer to buy pillow inserts as opposed to complete throw pillows because it’s so much easier to store pillow covers than it is to store entire pillows. Grab some inexpensive pillow inserts and swap out the covers as the seasons change!
