One of my new year’s resolutions was to be way more intentional – and that goal extended to skincare. I am notoriously horrible at taking care of my skin. It’s part laziness and part luckiness. My grandma and mom have amazing skin, and for better or worse, I take it for granted.
But, I know I need to be more intentional to keep those genes long lasting, so, with the help of my sister-in-law, I’ve set out to find a routine that works for me. I have very dry skin, so I’ve needed super hydrating and exfoliating products to keep my skin fresh. Here are my favorites as of late!
this is how I start my nighttime routine. The Makeup-Breakup cleansing oil gently removes makeup (so much easier than using cotton and pulling on your eyes – you just carefully massage this into your skin) and then I follow-up with the face wash from Trader Joe’s. I once had a facials tell me that your face wash should have as few ingredients as possible and start with water, so I’ve made that a priority.
The bags under my eyes were becoming larger than my actual luggage. Dermalogica’s Stress Positive Eye Lift (such an apt name, by the way) has totally whipped them into shape. I can see a difference in the darkness, and they’re entirely less puffy!
I have been trying to make it a habit of exfoliating my skin once a week. I’ve been alternating between a coarser Derma E scrub for a deep exfoliation and Skin Inc’s peel. The Skin Inc peel is a rolling exfoliation – you put the gel on your clean, dry skin, and it almost emulsifies. It turns a sort of milky color, and you rub the skin off the way you would if you let glue dry on your hands as a kid (no one else? never mind). Both have been super effective in helping me get rid of endless dry skin!
this stuff became a FAST favorite! It’s such a quick and effective way to clean on the go. It’s an all-in-one, removing makeup, deep cleaning pores, and leaving your skin feeling totally refreshed. I like to do this periodically in the mornings or midday for a pick-me-up!
